Layering sounds of different instruments is a great way to get creative
with your keyboard. A system called MIDI, which stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, makes this possible.
In a nutshell, MIDI allows one electronic musical instrument to communicate with another. Your digital keyboard has special "in" and "out" ports that allow you to establish this connection.
MIDI also allows you to hook up your instrument to your computer, as long as your computer has a sound card with a MIDI interface. Alternatively, your instrument can have a USB port that doubles as a MIDI connection. As long as you have the right software, MIDI can be used as a sequencer, recording studio, interactive teacher, and much more.
